- 1Create an account — Open the app and sign up with your email address. Verify your email to activate your account.
- 2Add your first item — Tap the orange + button at the bottom of the screen. Give the item a name and optionally add a photo and tags.
- 3Set a location — After adding the item, tap Update Location in the item detail view. Pan the map to exactly where the item is and tap Set Location Here.
- 4Find it later — Search by name, browse the Map tab to see all items on a map, or scroll the Items list to find it.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
How do I add a photo to an item?
Open the item and tap Edit (top right). You'll see a camera option to add or replace the photo. Tap Done to save.
How do I update an item's location?
Open the item detail view and tap Update Location. A map will appear — pan it to the exact spot and tap Set Location Here. The item's pin will move to the new location.
Can I add tags to organise my items?
Yes! When adding or editing an item, you can add custom tags. Tags make it easy to filter and find related items quickly (e.g., "tools", "garage", "borrowed").
Will my items sync across my devices?
Yes. As long as you're signed in with the same account on each device, your items sync automatically. Pull down on the Items list to force a manual sync if needed.
How do I delete an item?
Open the item and tap Edit. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Item. Confirm the deletion when prompted. This cannot be undone.
I see a sync error in Settings. What should I do?
Check your internet connection first. Then go to Settings → Sync Now to retry. If the error persists, sign out and sign back in to refresh your session. If it still doesn't work, contact us.
How do I change the app's accent colour?
Go to Settings → Appearance and tap any of the colour circles. The accent colour updates throughout the app instantly.
Why does the app need location access?
Location access lets you quickly pin items to your current GPS position. Without it, you can still set locations manually by panning the map. The app does not track your location in the background — location is only used when you explicitly set an item's position.
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot Password and enter your email address. You'll receive a reset link within a few minutes. Check your spam folder if it doesn't arrive.
How do I delete my account?
To permanently delete your account and all associated data, please email us at support@seriousfish.com with the subject "Delete My Account". We'll process your request within 7 days.
🔧 Troubleshooting
The app is slow or crashing
Try closing the app and reopening it. If that doesn't help, restart your iPhone. Make sure you're running the latest version of the app — update via the App Store if needed.
My items aren't showing on the map
Items only appear on the map if they have a location set. Open each item and check whether a location has been pinned. If the map is blank, pull down on the Items list to sync your data.
Photos aren't loading
Photos are stored in the cloud and require an internet connection to load. Check your connection. If you're on Wi-Fi and photos still won't load, try syncing from Settings.
